VOCATION TESTIMONIES

How did your missionary vocation start?
I describe a fact to explain the origin: It was a personal decision that I made. I entered the community of Claretian missionaries just after I finished my primary school.

How was your vocation discernment?
My parents were the only persons I referred to during my discernment. They reacted in a very different way. My father was not very happy about it. My mother supported me.

What was the reaction of your parents when you told them that you wanted to become a Claretian?
To enter in the Claretian community meant to be far from my environment and from them (my parents) who had advised to try other religious experiences. It was me who made the choice and I think there was no particular reason.

Do you think it is worth to become missionary nowadays?
If I look at my life, I would say that it has been worth to invest it in this manner; It has been a fulfilling life. It depends on what each of us wants to do and what is the dream in one´s heart. I would advise the youth to have dreams, full of depth and mystery, in their lives.

What would you advise these young people who are now in their vocation discernment?
To think that we live only once, and that we need to fill our days with meaning. To organize a personal project as a response to the demands of life. To learn to question themselves and to allow others to question us. God speaks through the stories of men and women.
