VOCATION TESTIMONIES

Fr. Vicent Sanz, CMF
Calle Clara del Rey 6,
Madrid, Spain

How did your missionary vocation start?
The first thing I remember is that when I was seven I visited a Missionary Exhibit. I think I wanted to be a missionary ever since.

How was your vocation discernment?
I entered the seminary at the age 10, so my vocation discernment was totally childish, naturally.

What was the reaction of your parents when you told them that you wanted to become a Claretian?
They got accustomed to my constantly saying that I wanted to be a missionary, till the day that they took me seriously and brought me to the seminary.

Do you think it is worth to become missionary nowadays?
I believe I would choose this same vocation again, because now I know how happy one can be in this life of service to others.

What would you advise these young people who are now in their vocation discernment?
That they will not be afraid of taking decisions, as long as they are not egoistic. The less one thinks about oneself, the more happy and free one becomes. And if the decision is to follow Jesus Christ, one will never feel alone and every day will be an adventure.
