SOUTH CLARETIAN MISSIONARY ENCOUNTER
We, Claretians, would like to share our missionary spirit
with all people. “I wish to share with you my
missionary experience during the South Cone Claretian Missionary
Encounter”, says in her letter Herminia Morales,
person in charge of the Procure in Chile. Temuco (Chile) January
16-21, 2006
Dear all:
Greetings of grace and peace in the Lord!
I wish to share with you my missionary experience during the
South Cone Claretian Missionary Encounter. This encounter
took place in Temuco City in the southern part of Chile. There
were thirty (30) participants, who from 16 to 20 of January
of 2006 shared their mission experience working with different
indigenous communities of South America.
During
the encounter we organized several working groups to deal
with issues like Economy and Solidarity market among different
indigenous people. Each country representative share during
the week several materials, artwork, music and organized the
Eucharistic celebration. As real immersion, one of the days
of the encounter we visited the Mapuche communities, where
we were able to have a dialogue with one of the Mapuche leaders,
who has been recently elected town Major.
It is praiseworthy to observe how these kind of encounters
enrich our experience and so the need of organizing such valuable
gatherings. It is nice to hear from those who have a lot of
experience in these issues and from those who attend for the
first time. All are encouraged to face the challenge presented
to us by the situation of the indigenous people.
At the end of the week we came with several general conclusions
after gathering all groups’ conclusions and a series
of concrete resolutions with regards how to continue our work,
aware of our strengths and weaknesses, in each individual
country we were representing.
We trust our Claretian missionary journey to the Immaculate
Heart of our Mother Mary, the star of evangelization.
Fraternally,
Herminia Morales R.
