WHAT THE 2007 POSTER MEANS

By Fr. Gonzalo Fernández, cmf

This poster presents a man and a context, or perhaps better to say a man within a context. The man, St. Anthony Mary Claret, appears clearly in the name (Claret) on top and most of all in the serene silhouette of his face. Name and face are merged with a scenery that is both geographic and charismatic.

Geographic scenery that tells us of the place of his birth: the rocky mountain of Montserrat, symbol of Catalonia, the waving fields of the Vic region, the Llobregat river and the bridge in Sallent, the town where he was born.

The Charismatic scenery on the other hand is portrayed by three symbols: a book (the Gospel of which he is a listener and a herald), a dove (clear referent to the Holy Spirit that anoints him for a prophetic mission) and a heart (the Heart of Mary, his heart centred Marian devotion). .

The key to understand the whole picture is given by the theme of the bicentenary, theme that seems to sail through the waiving fields: “Born to evangelised”. Everything that Claret means is focused on a mission: To announce the Good News of Jesus.

At the bottom of the poster appear the logo and the reason for the event: the bicentennial anniversary of the birth of Saint Anthony Mary Claret.
